The combination of AI (artificial intelligence) and DeSci (decentralised science) is poised to create a huge leap in humanity’s capacity to drive scientific research. While it will not happen overnight, technological maturity allows us to take critically important steps today that will create a better future for everyone tomorrow.

ID Theory has been at the forefront of this intersection for quite some time now, with their CIO on the board of Molecule and the fund as founding members of BeakerDAO.

As a major step towards this future, ID Theory will be among the first to leverage the Decentralized Knowledge Graph Paranets to build out the AI-ready knowledge foundation for DeSci. The DeSci paranet will launch as a collaborative community mining relevant DeSci knowledge. Knowledge miners contributing knowledge to the Paranet will be mining NEURO rewards.

The Decentralized Knowledge Graph and the DeSci Paranet

The DeSci Paranet will live on the OriginTrail Decentralized Knowledge Graph (DKG), a permissionless peer-to-peer network which will ensure that all the DeSci knowledge published to the DeSci Paranet will be discoverable, verifiable, and attributed to the owners who will mine it. This way, our AI services will omit the challenges of hallucination, have managed bias, and always respect the intellectual property of the knowledge owners.

As part of DeSci paranet, ID Theory will run designated AI services, allowing users to interact with the mined knowledge. The first AI service will be a DeScAI chatbot allowing you to explore the knowledge in DeSci Paranet using the decentralized retrieval-augmented generation (dRAG) method and, in the future, these services will evolve into more end-to-end research frameworks for autonomous agents to make scientific breakthroughs!

Calling all Knowledge Miners to Arms

In a short while, a full proposal for the DeSci Paranet will be put to the NeuroWeb community for approval. The proposal will include:

• A showcase of the genesis knowledge assets that will be created
• The incentives model for knowledge miners
• The AI service demo for DeScAI

As a part of the creation of the DeSci paranet, OriginTrail and ID Theory are calling for future DeSci knowledge miners to get involved. As part of their Blueprint for Breakthroughs, ID Theory identified several Decentralised Autonomous Organisations (DAOs) that are focused on gathering and creating relevant knowledge such as Vita, Valley, Athena, Hair, Cerebrum, and Cryo. The paranet incentives are inclusive, and we invite all interested participants to get involved.

Towards Autonomous Research

The DeSci paranet is aimed at supporting the autonomous research vision, and delivers following critical elements for its success:

• The data verifiability and ownership capabilities ensured by NeuroWeb blockchain
• The symbolic AI capabilities ensured by the OriginTrail DKG
• The neural AI capabilities of Generative AI like Large Language Models (LLMs)
• The incentives for relevant knowledge growth on NeuroWeb

Once we combine the trust and incentives of NeuroWeb, the deterministic foundation of the DKG, and the reasoning potential of LLMs we can create not only specific AI solutions but also wider research tasks for AI agents which can take these building blocks and conduct autonomous research on verifiable sources.
