What is the solution you are building and how is it addressing the problem?

KAKAXI is the first camera + IoT climate-monitoring device to deliver transparency and traceability to clients using time-lapse video; The KAKAXI device is equipped with a front-facing camera and environmental sensors to collect and analyze micro-climate data: temperature, day length, humidity, and rainfall. Additional sensors can be attached via micro-USB.

Here’s how it works. The Kakaxi device was designed for an ease of implementation and zero-maintenance or installation support allowing any farmer, agronomist, scientist, or client to install it in 10 min. Every 60 min (or another interval) the device will “wake up” and collect climate data (temperature, humidity, rainfall, solar intensity) and snap a photo. This happens over the course of the day with images only taken during daylight hours. Then, at 2-3AM device will “call” a server and transfer data/images over the cell network. Data is model on Farmer Dashboard page and images are compiled and generated into a time-lapse video.

Unique technology allows for adaptive tuning for sensor interval, battery, and data transfer cycle – camera, sensor, battery and transfer settings are controlled via cloud server and device updates settings every 10 days automatically or manually by switching the unit OFF/ON.

The KAKAXI device is completely solar powered using an iPad-sized solar panel connected to the device via micro-USB. The device can be fitted to larger solar panels and backup batteries OR connected to a wall outlet for indoor use;

The KAKAXI is connected via cellular/3G network - Data/Image transfer over 3G network; the device is compatible with global/local MSPs.

KAKAXI allows food manufacturers and distributors to aggregate real-time data about products from seed to harvest - from the farm to the store. It enables consumers to understand the production process, provenance of products, authenticity, quality, and safety of their food. By introducing blockchain-supported data sharing and developing a global decentralised platform, KAKAXI is a tool for producers, retailers, and service providers to track ingredients throughout the supply chain, effectively answer consumer demands for more transparency, and use genuine climate & media data for transparency to tell the story from the farm to the plate building trust in brands or services.

Farming in the 21st century requires quantity and quality simultaneously improving the efficiency of food production to support 10B people with quality food with transparency; Therefore, automation and robotics will be required for farming of the future.

Kakaxi is a farm-visualization tool pairing climate, environmental, and agricultural data with matching imagery, enabling future farm automation through IoT & deep machine learning and image recognition technology.

How do you plan to scale your idea?

To accelerate our growth and scale at rate that we can manufacture Kakaxi devices, we need partnerships with corporate brands/food companies, government agencies, research organizations and other vertically integrated supply chains, both in the speciality and commodity crop sector.
